Professional golf has spent the last handful of years fractured into competing camps, but a newly unveiled multi-year partnership indicates a decisive shift toward a unified front. Effective immediately and running through at least 2029, the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Asian Tour have announced an alliance designed to alter commercial and competitive pathways across the international game.

Through their existing Strategic Alliance, the PGA Tour and DP World Tour are partnering directly with the Asian Tour to build structured playing opportunities. Crucially, this agreement establishes direct pathways for leading Asian Tour members, with official playing rights coming into effect for the 2027 DP World Tour season.

In addition to membership pathways, the DP World Tour will resume co-sanctioning select tournaments with the Asian Tour beginning in 2027. Full scheduling details and tournament fields will be revealed later in the year when the DP World Tour releases its complete calendar for the upcoming campaign.

A Renewed Collaborative History

This modern agreement builds upon a historical foundation. The DP World Tour and Asian Tour previously maintained a Strategic Alliance from 2016 to 2021, a formal arrangement born out of a relationship that started in February 1999 when the Malaysian Open became their first co-sanctioned event.

Historically, collaboration between these circuits runs deep:

  • 108 tournaments have been co-sanctioned between the DP World Tour and Asian Tour.
  • 21 events have additionally been tri-sanctioned with either the Sunshine Tour or the PGA Tour of Australasia.

Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour, addressed the timing and intent of the renewed alliance:

We feel the time is now right to collaborate with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour to enhance the Asian Tour for our members, fans and partners. Bringing the three Tours together under one partnership will increase the bandwidth of the professional game in Asia. Not only will co-sanctioning events see our members competing regularly on the global stage, but we are excited to welcome players from the other Tours to our pinnacle events, which showcase the strength and diversity of golf in Asia.Cho Minn Thant

The 2027 Horizon

While the major championship season has concluded—highlighted by Ryan Fox winning The Open—attention within the sport's executive offices is firmly fixed on the structural evolution taking shape. With the 2027 season bringing new playing rights, returning co-sanctioned fixtures, and tighter integration across three major circuits, professional golf is moving toward a more cohesive global picture than it has seen in years.
