Golf can shift from triumph to heartbreak in the space of two swings. At the PIF London Championship, England's Charley Hull held the tournament by the throat with a one-shot lead and only two holes left to play. Yet, the finish line proved agonizingly out of reach as 17-year-old Canadian rising star Anna Huang seized the opening. Huang carded a final-round 70 to seal her fourth victory on the Ladies' European Tour, leaving Hull to rue a late slip that handed the teenager the crown by a single stroke.
For Hull, the runner-up finish compounds a turbulent stretch of links-course fine-tuning. Earlier in the season calendar, the English star endured a brutal experience on a Scottish links layout when a routine 15-foot birdie putt on a par-five turned into a nightmare quadruple-bogey nine after her ball caught a slope and rolled completely off the green. Though she rebounded with strong showings—including a joint-sixth finish at The Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes where she noted she was looking to get back to her "ruthless self"—the margins at the top of the leaderboard remained razor-thin in London.
While the battle at the very summit commanded the spotlight, the final day also featured a blistering charge down the leaderboard from Czech Pro Golf Team standout Sára Kousková. Following a mixed opening stretch that included an early bogey on the third hole, Kousková orchestrated a magnificent back-nine surge. She fired six birdies across the inward half—scoring on holes 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, and the final 18th—to sign for an exceptional round of 67. With a total score of seven-under-par, Kousková narrowly missed a top-15 finish, settling into a stellar 16th position.
Fellow Czech competitor Kristýna Napoleaová likewise authored a strong recovery after battling a difficult Saturday that featured a triple bogey. Napoleaová opened her final round with a birdie on the first, added four more on the back nine (including holes 13, 15, and 16), and capped off her day with a sixth birdie on the last. Her 70-stroke final round propelled her upward into a tie for 46th place overall at three-over-par for the tournament.
At the pinnacle, however, it was Huang's composure under pressure that defined the week. Defending her position with a steady 70 on Sunday, the 17-year-old withstood the closing pressure from experienced campaigners to secure another milestone title in her burgeoning career, demonstrating a maturity well beyond her years on the European circuit.
