Darderi’s 2026 campaign gained major momentum during the Australian Open in Melbourne. Entering the tournament looking to establish a firmer footprint on hard courts, he engineered an impressive run through the opening rounds of the draw.
In the second round, Darderi earned a hard-fought victory over Argentina’s Sebastián Báez, recovering from a set deficit to claim a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 win. He maintained that high standard in the third round against Karen Khachanov, prevailing in four competitive sets (7-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4) to secure a spot in the round of 16 on January 26.
