> Decades after sharing fairways around the world without ever pairing up in competition, golf icons Annika and Charlotta Sörenstam are finally teaming up at The Woodford Club.

Throughout their storied golf careers, sisters Annika and Charlotta Sörenstam represented Sweden on the sport's biggest stages, claimed global victories, and walked countless fairways side by side. They shared a last name, an unyielding passion for the game, and a competitive era. Yet, despite their parallel trajectories, they never once shared a competitive scorecard as partners during their primes.

That decades-long wait ends on August 8-9 at The Woodford Club in Versailles, Kentucky. The Sörenstam sisters will join forces for the first time in a Legends of the LPGA competition at the 4th annual Woodford Legends Invitational powered by Suran Systems.

“I look forward to being with Lotta in a couple weeks,” Annika Sörenstam said. “It will be nice to be able to spend time with her on the course.”

### A Rare Joint Appearance Rooted in History

While the pair famously represented Team Europe together in the 1998 Solheim Cup, tournament organizers and the sisters themselves note they were never paired together as partners during that event. During the peak of their professional careers, women's professional golf offered scarce team-format opportunities, keeping them strictly in individual fields.

“Can’t remember from our junior years if we teamed up for sure or not,” Charlotta Sörenstam noted. “The only time I’m certain we were teammates was when we both represented Europe in the Solheim Cup in 1998, but we didn’t pair up as partners then.”

Now in senior competition, the duo will tackle a unique 36-hole, two-player scramble format. The setup relies as heavily on chemistry and tactical partnership as it does on pure ball-striking.

“The consistency Annika has had throughout her career,” Charlotta said, describing her older sister's assets under pressure. “Plus, how tough and calm she is under pressure.”

Annika was equally complimentary of her younger sister's capabilities on the course. “Lotta has always hit the ball well,” Annika observed. “Hopefully we can play well together and make some putts.”

### Elite Field and Central Kentucky Stakes

The Sörenstams form just one compelling storyline in a stacked central Kentucky field. They will face 15 other two-player teams comprising some of the most decorated names in women's golf. The tournament lineup features six LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame members, boasting a combined total of 322 LPGA Tour victories and 42 major championship titles.

Adding to the familial dynamic, World Golf Hall of Famer Hollis Stacy is also teaming up with her sister, accomplished amateur Martha Leach, giving spectators a rare opportunity to watch two distinct sets of sisters vie for the title.

The broader five-day event schedule at The Woodford Club features multiple community touchpoints:

- **Wednesday, Aug. 5:** Junior Golf Special Event featuring an instruction clinic and inflatable hitting targets, followed by a Legends Fest live concert with Paul Childers.
- **Thursday, Aug. 6:** Women's Day of Golf Pro-Am, connecting high school standouts, collegiate players, and amateurs with LPGA Legends.
- **Friday, Aug. 7:** The Woodford Legends Invitational Pro-Am.
- **Saturday, Aug. 8 & Sunday, Aug. 9:** Official LPGA Legends Tournament Rounds.Gates open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with tournament tee times commencing at 10 a.m. Top area women amateur golfers will also compete alongside the LPGA Legends in a separate division, with all event proceeds benefiting official charity partner KVC Kentucky.
