> During the mid-season pause, Abel Ferreira's training matches at the Academia de Futebol have transformed routine fitness work into high-stakes auditions for Palmeiras' next wave of academy stars.

When the official calendar hits pause, the laboratory doors at the Academia de Futebol swing wide open. For Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira, intertemporada friendly matches serve a dual purpose: maintaining senior physical baselines and testing whether the club's famed youth pipeline can bridge the gap to the first team. During a rigorous stretch featuring training games against Mauaense, Primavera, and Juventus, alongside internal run-outs, the club's academy prospects seized their chance to impact the score sheet and alter tactical calculations.

## The Multi-Tiered Evaluation Grid

Abel's structured approach relies on completely rotating units to expose different combinations of established senior figures and Sub-20 prospects to competitive stress. In the commanding 6-0 victory over Mauaense, the tactical architecture shifted dramatically between halves, illustrating how the coaching staff evaluates technical adaptability under varying spatial constraints.

> Pudemos ver, como sempre fazemos, os jogadores da base. É sempre bom jogar, por mais que o adversário não seja forte, mas nos ajuda no crescimento da nossa equipe. Uma das formas que temos de conhecê-los, não só por aquilo que vemos nas semanas de treinos deles, mas também chamando aqui durante o ano, como foi hojeAbel Ferreira

## From Training Pitch to First-Team Continuity

The transition from youth prospect to reliable senior contributor is rarely accidental at Palmeiras. The current wave of youngsters is walking a well-trodden path. Previous academy graduates like Allan and Arthur successfully used these exact intertemporada pauses to earn permanent first-team roles under Abel's watch, establishing a cultural blueprint that now inspires players currently coming through the Sub-20 ranks.

Among the active cohort, Larson and Luis Pacheco have logged consistent training minutes alongside the senior group since the start of the year. Larson punctuated his progress with a goal against Juventus, while Pacheco has shown tactical versatility by starting across multiple tactical shapes and scoring in the internal run-out. Meanwhile, Luighi—who already possesses valuable senior competitive minutes—remained a permanent fixture in Abel’s tactical sessions throughout the break.

## Forward Implications for the Brasileirão Run-In

With Palmeiras holding the top spot in the Campeonato Brasileiro with 41 points—sitting seven points clear of second-place Flamengo ahead of a return to action against Coritiba at Couto Pereira—the integration of fresh academy legs provides crucial internal depth. While established figures manage the physical toll of a relentless domestic and continental schedule, the ability of players like Heittor, Riquelme Fillipi, and Victor Gabriel to finish chances in these training games gives the coaching staff genuine tactical alternatives without dipping into the transfer market.
